As part of the Buildings Research Division at the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), Joseph Montemurno focuses on building performance and building systems improvement using a whole building systems approach. Joseph collaborates with industry partners to develop solutions to help achieve building improvements such as energy and cost savings as a team member of Building America Partnership for Improved Residential Construction (BA-PIRC) as well as being involved with other research activities at the Center.

Prior to joining FSEC, Joseph spent time educating builders, architects, contractors, and homeowners about high performance and green building measures from pre-construction through project completion. Joseph holds a Master's degree from Appalachian State University where his graduate studies focused on sustainability, renewable energy systems, and building science. He also holds Bachelor degrees in Electronic Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology from the University of Central Florida.
