Dave Chasar holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Florida and is a Certified Energy Manager. Since 1994, his work at the Florida Solar Energy Center has focused on energy efficiency and indoor air quality issues for buildings in hot and humid climates. He has used detailed computer simulations and field-monitored data to study energy interactions in commercial and residential buildings. Presenting over two-dozen workshops in Florida and the Caribbean, Dave has targeted the requirements of constructing and maintaining buildings in these climates where energy efficiency is often at odds with indoor health and comfort. Currently, Dave's work with BAIHP involves finding cost-effective designs that can be documented through data collection in the field. Results are passed on to manufacturers through site visits and workshops.
